Grand Theft Auto VI: Trailer 2 Breakdown — Welcome to Leonida

Leonida awaits…

Rockstar Games has taken the gaming world by storm once again, dropping a surprise trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI. The three-minute showcase introduces us to the main protagonists, Jason and Lucia, while offering glimpses of other key characters and settings across the sun-soaked streets of Vice City and the greater region of Leonida.

To help you dive deeper into everything revealed, we’ve compiled a detailed breakdown of what the trailer shows, along with some intriguing clues about the adventures waiting in Leonida. With the official release set for May 26, 2026, the wait might feel long—but we’ve gathered over 170 screenshots from the trailer to keep the excitement alive.

Waterfront property

The trailer kicks off with a scenic aerial view of a bayside town. Boats cut across the water while seagulls soar overhead. The focus shifts to a modest green house where a man is working on the roof—this man is none other than Jason Duval.

Jason and Brian

Jason’s work is interrupted by Brian Heder, who yells at him to “get [him his] checks!” Though Jason looks annoyed, he heads off in his car, setting the tone for a storyline full of personal drama and criminal undertones.

Going for a ride

We see Jason driving through the neighborhood, briefly interacting with a local. Suddenly, the trailer cuts to him aggressively shaking down a store clerk—suggesting that “getting checks” might mean extorting local businesses.

Scenes from Vice City

As Jason drives, signs for various areas flash past—Ambrosia, Downtown, VCI Airport, and Southside—hinting at a large, diverse open world. He’s later seen lifting weights on the beach, reminiscent of GTA: San Andreas’s RPG-style stat system.

A meeting at the penitentiary

Jason stops by a bodega for a six-pack, passing by police arresting men beneath a mural reading “Liberté – Égalité – Fraternité”. He then arrives at Leonida Penitentiary, asking to see Lucia Caminos. After a brief reunion, the trailer flashes “Rockstar Games Presents.”

A new Bonnie and Clyde

The scene shifts to a bank robbery. Lucia wears a skull mask and wields an SMG at Sinfrontera National Bank, while Jason helps control the situation, also masked. Heists—key features in GTA V—seem to be returning with even more cinematic intensity.

Work hard, play hard

We see Jason and Lucia sharing emotional and personal moments—laughing, drinking on a pier, and showing the human side of their high-stakes lifestyle.

A fresh start?

A few quick shots follow: Jason helping load luggage onto a small plane, and a woman who resembles Lucia doing community service. They talk about “a new start,” suggesting an internal conflict between escaping and embracing the criminal world.

Couple about town

The duo’s journey takes them to a bar, where a new face—Cal Tompkins—orders shots. Later, on a yacht, Lucia stuns in a golden dress. At the bar, a bell is rung near a sign saying “Hurricane Roxy”, possibly foreshadowing a character or major story event.

Leonida 5-0

Law enforcement takes the spotlight next. A character asks someone if they’re “a fed,” before Jason and Lucia leap out a window as a police chopper hovers above. A police squad storms a building, and a captain declares, “us cops, we gotta protect each other,” hinting at complex law enforcement dynamics.

Life in Leonida

The action ramps up. Jason fires from a moving car, Lucia cage-fights, and we see a truck dragging a safe through the streets. Explosions, grenade launchers, and club scenes flash across the screen, mixing chaos with nightlife. A commercial for Phil’s Ammu-Nation follows: “We got more guns than the law allows!” Whether this Phil is the same as Phil Murphy from Vice City remains to be seen.

How to get around

A rapid montage shows off the game’s vehicle variety—speedboats, helicopters, jetskis, planes, motorcycles, dirt bikes, and sports cars. One highlight includes Jason leaping from a motorcycle into a semi-truck to steal a car, teasing possible new stunt mechanics.

Off into the sunset

The trailer concludes with a beautiful sunset scene as Jason and Lucia drive across a bridge. The screen fades to black, the Grand Theft Auto VI logo appears, and we finally see the confirmed release date: May 26, 2026, available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

An end card reveals the entire trailer was captured on a PS5, with the console and DualSense controllers making a cameo—promising an experience fine-tuned for next-gen hardware.
